ROLE BRIEF

The sales consultant is responsible for building good relationships with new and existing clients to ensure future business. Successful sales candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills and experience in magazine advertising sales. A good sales consultant combines charisma with sales knowledge to create a compelling sales pitch.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prospecting and Lead Generation:

  • Identify and research potential advertisers who may be interested in placing ads in the magazine.
  • Generate leads through networking, cold calling, and other outreach efforts.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with existing advertisers.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Understand clients’ advertising needs and objectives to offer tailored solutions.

Sales Presentations and Proposals:

  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations to potential advertisers.
  • Create customized advertising proposals that showcase the benefits of advertising in the magazine.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with clients to secure advertising contracts.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential advertising opportunities and target demographics.

Campaign Management:

  • Coordinate the execution of advertising campaigns, including ad placements, artwork submissions, and scheduling.
  • Ensure that advertising materials meet publication deadlines and quality standards.

Revenue Generation:

  • Meet or exceed sales targets and revenue goals set by management.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional advertising products or services.

Collaboration with Internal Teams:

  • Work closely with editorial, design, and production teams to ensure seamless execution of advertising campaigns.
  • Communicate client requirements and specifications to internal stakeholders to facilitate project delivery.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and revenue forecasts.
  • Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and other documentation as required by management.

Customer Feedback and Follow-up:

  • Gather feedback from clients regarding their advertising experiences and satisfaction levels.
  • Follow up with clients after ad placements to ensure satisfaction and explore opportunities for future business.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have at least 3-years sales experience with track records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Charismatic personality.
  • Target driven.
  • Consultative selling skills, with the ability to ask probing questions, listen actively, and understand client needs to recommend tailored solutions and drive value.
  • Understanding of the production process.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and follow through on commitments in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Able to remain calm and work in high-pressure environments.
  • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility.
  • Able to build good relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices, sales techniques, and product knowledge.
  • Participate in training programs, workshops, and networking events to enhance sales skills and knowledge.
