In our Autumn edition(March – May) , we had the privilege of featuring the amazing blogger, The Don Father.
Here are some questions we asked him, below:
Describe how did you first get into blogging?
I had always wanted to write, but my thoughts were always clouded when it came to deciding what to write about. I became a father in December 2015, and in January 2016 The Don Father was born. I had found my inspiration, and the rest they say, is history.
Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog
I write from experiences and how I see my role as a father. I also like to write about what I think other dads want to hear/read. So much is aimed at moms, and there is so much information out there for moms. I felt a platform for dads was missing. Some of my content is humorous, and some is serious. A good balance is essential.
Is blogging your job/or what is your day job?
By day I am the Marketing Lead for an Australian based tech company, and at night I work on The Don Father.
How do you balance your everyday life with blogging?
During the day my wife, Milly, manages all communications for The Don Father, and in the evenings once the little ones have gone down for the night, we discuss and respond to emails. If there is any content that needs to be shot, we schedule it over the weekends. Planning ahead is key for us.
Milly is the eyes and ears of The Don Father, lending her motherly wisdom to countless posts. I run everything past her and she gives her thoughts and ideas and together we put out material that is relevant and content that we are both happy and comfortable with.
How do you stay motivated?
Having children is, in itself a life changing experience. You change as a person for the better. You become more loving, more patient and more in touch with your inner feelings. The bedtime stories, the morning kisses, the influence I get to have on my daughter and the example I want to set, all make me excited to get up in the morning and explore a new day.
What do you do in your spare time?
We love trips down to the beach! We love going away for the weekend to places we have never been to, even if it is just an hours drive from home.
What do you want your audience to gain from your blog?
I want people to enjoy parenting through a Dad’s perspective. I want the Dads to remember that they are hugely influential in the eyes of their children. Don’t be content with the fact that you’re simply a dad. Instead, challenge yourself to become a dad who is a force in the lives of your wife and children.
