The rugged QES40 generator supplied to Tyres & More Riverside by Atlas Copco Power Technique’s long-standing Nelspruit dealer, Will Gain Sales & Services, ensures that the specialist tyre fitment centre is able to deliver uninterrupted customer service during power outages.
Tyres & More, part of the prominent TiAuto Investments stable, was established in 2014 with over 35 fitment centres countrywide offering a host of products and services including tyres, wheels, batteries, wiper blades, brakes, wheel locks, nitrogen, shocks and tow bars as well as wheel balancing and alignment.
Since purchasing the Tyres & More Riverside franchise in 2015, Charles Bodemer has grown the fitment centre into a highly successful business. However, the Riverside area is prone to frequent power outages, notwithstanding load shedding, which negatively affected the business; electricity is required to drive the compressor that powers pneumatic tools, six air lifts as well as day-to-day office functions. “We are one of only a few fitment centres in the Nelspruit area and we simply cannot afford to turn customers away every time there is a power cut which on occasion saw us losing a full day’s work. There was no doubt that we urgently needed a reliable back-up power source to ensure seamless customer service, making the argument to purchase a generator irrefutable.”
Charles wanted a machine which aligned to his beliefs that you should do something only once, so therefore do it right the first time and he carries this mantra through to customer service. “I expect no less from my generator as I don’t want to have a problem with it six months down the line.” After doing some thorough homework to determine the best-fit generator for Tyres & More, Charles turned to Pat Wilmans, owner of Will Gain Sales & Services with whom he shares a longstanding business relationship for assistance.
Will Gain Sales & Services was founded by Pat in 2009 initially supplying the Chicago Pneumatic construction range to customers in the construction, mining and drilling & blasting sectors across eastern Mpumalanga and Swaziland. When the Atlas Copco Nelspruit dealership was discontinued in 2011, Pat was given the opportunity to exclusively supply Atlas Copco construction equipment such as portable diesel compressors and ancillary equipment (rock breakers). “The respect that the Atlas Copco brand enjoys amongst customers made our decision to solely supply Atlas Copco products a no-brainer,” states Pat. “We have since extended our Atlas Copco portfolio with the addition of generators, pumps and light towers.”
Will Gain conducted thorough research around the specific power needs of Tyres & More. “Sizing is critical to ensure optimum generator performance and to get it spot on we asked the correct questions around maximum power usage and circuit breaker size,” explains Pat. “Armed with the necessary information and knowing what Charles expects from a generator, namely a premium brand stand-by unit that will deliver world-class performance, we had no hesitation in suggesting the Atlas Copco QES40 generator. We received the order from Charles in March 2019 and the unit was installed shortly thereafter.”
Atlas Copco’s Product Manager – Power and Lights, Portable Energy, Zandra van der Westhuizen, points out that Atlas Copco generators are smartly engineered to be able to start-up three times higher than the maximum load required. “This makes it possible for us to downsize the generator enabling us to present to our customers a smaller, more compact machine that delivers lower capital purchase cost, reduced fuel consumption, a smaller carbon footprint and quick, easy service and maintenance due to fewer parts, ultimately resulting in lower total cost of ownership.”
Atlas Copco’s QES40 generator ticks all the boxes for Charles. “What impresses me the most is the unit’s quiet and vibration-free operation as well as the fact that it was delivered as a complete plug-and-play package with a rugged galvanized steel enclosure mounted on a spillage-free frame.”
With cutting-edge models in the range, from the QES9 to the large QES1250, these versatile generators are the ultimate stand-by power solution in terms of efficiency, reliability and capability. Requiring only two clicks to enable stable power within ten seconds, and with its 105 litre diesel tank, the QES40 generator can run non-stop for fifteen hours at full load. When it comes to service, the machine again steps up to the mark boasting a 500 hour service interval and service duration of less than two hours. The 1000 hour or 12 months warranty bears testament to world-class manufacture and superior quality components. “With this cutting-edge unit we are now set for our busiest November / December period,” says an optimistic Charles.
In closing, Zandra affirms Atlas Copco’s full support of Will Gain, a dealer that continues to deliver market-leading customer service and keeps Atlas Copco as a highly sought after brand in the region
