“Each of us as citizens has a role to play in creating a better world for our children.”   Former president and international icon, the late Mr Nelson Mandela

Coming up on the 18th of July is Mandela Day. This day calls on us all, every day, to make the world a better place, especially for our children. Mandela has often been termed father of the nation, perhaps not only for his role in liberating South Africans but also for the love and support he has shown to its children

This year, the Children’s Hospital Trust wishes to continue Nelson Mandela’s legacy through supporting critically ill children cared for at the Emergency Centre at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. As our largest project to date, we have committed to upgrading and expanding the Emergency Centre to improve the flow of patient and care-givers through this extremely busy area of the Hospital, which receives over 45 000 patients per year. Optimising patient flow enables more efficient utilisation of resources, and serves to facilitate the child’s early return to the family and minimising hospitalisation where possible.

This project will enable children and their families to receive the best medical attention and care they so desperately need.  It includes:
• Burns Room
• Decontamination/Isolation Room with separate entrance from the outside
• Child Protection Room
• Family Counselling Room
• Lift from EC to Theatres and ICU
• Separate Triage Rooms
• Medical and Trauma Resuscitation closer to each other
• Improved staff and teaching facilities

We have raised R50 million with a further R72 million still to raise and we need your contribution to make this happen by 2020.

In addition to your investment in the health of children, your company will benefit from:
• BBBEE Points
• Section 18A
• Donor Naming Rights
• Donor Board
• Cause Related Marketing (CRM)
• Donor Report Updates

100% of your investment will be allocated to the Emergency Centre facility upgrade and expansion.
